Will Writing

We all have a tendency to put things off but key financial planning for you and your loved ones should not be one of those things. Having a well written will is undoubtedly one of the most important things you can have prepared. Without one, you have no control over who inherits your hard-earned money, property or possessions. Many people believe that their assets will automatically pass to the right person, but family needs are frequently too complex or varied for that to be true.

  • You have recently married or entered into a civil partnership

  • You have recently gone through a separation or a divorce

  • You have recently had children or started caring for step children

  • You need to properly plan to ensure that your assets are dealt with in a tax efficient manner

  • Your existing will was prepared some time ago and would benefit from being reviewed

At Easthams, we don’t provide online wills. We offer a face to face service with an experienced professional who will take time to ensure that they properly understand your wishes and your family dynamics. This means that we are best placed to ensure that you end up with a will that is right for you and your specific circumstances. However, our fees are fixed, so you needn’t worry about the cost.

What do I need to do? Easthams will do all the hard work for you. All you need to do is contact us and start giving some thought to the following:

  • What money, property and possessions you have

  • Who you would want to benefit from your will, and what you might want to leave to them

  • Who you want to look after any children you have under the age on 18

  • Who you want to sort out your estate and carry out the wishes in your will

Our Fixed Fees & Service

Single simple will £100
Two simple mirror wills £150
Home/hospital visit        (Fylde Coast area) £  50*

All fees quoted above are subject to VAT

What is included within the price?

Our fees include up to two meetings with a qualified professional, either a licensed probate practitioner or a qualified solicitor; taking detailed instructions from you; preparing a draft will to review and, if necessary, make minor amendments; signing (execution) of the will. The fees include the cost of Easthams storing your original will for you and providing you with a copy of the will for your records.

What additional charges may there be?

More complex wills may be required if there is a need for more detailed tax planning, the division of a property, the creation of a trust or any other unusual feature.  In these cases we can still offer a fixed fee service.  We will establish your needs at our initial meeting and agree the fee with you.  The cost of such wills starts at £200.

*Please note that no additional charges are made for home or hospital visits where the visits are required to enable us to comply with our commitments under the Equality Act 2010.

How long does it take?

Timescales are subject to your convenience, but typically wills should be capable of being executed within two weeks of the first meeting.
